EURETINA Lecture Preview: Steps to Achieving the Impossible in the Clinical Management of Diabetic Retinopathy

EURETINA Lecture to highlight challenges in diabetic retinopathy care

Although the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy (DR) has improved greatly over the past decade, many challenges remain in limiting visual loss in global populations where the incidence of diabetes continues to rise at alarming rates.

In her EURETINA Medal Lecture entitled “Steps to Achieving the Impossible in the Clinical Management of Diabetic Retinopathy”, Prof Sobha Sivaprasad will review the recent progress in DR management and underline the main challenges that lie ahead for national health systems to reduce the sight-threatening complications of DR in the coming years.

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes of visual impairment in people of working age in most developed countries despite improvements in recent years, thanks to new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

Professor Sobha Sivaprasad will deliver the EURETINA Lecture at 16:00 on Thursday 1 September 2022 in Hall 1, Level 2.
